Be Honest Now

First a little memory device, the Two Weeks Rule.  From here until the end of the golf season, think every other week.

  • (skip a week)
  • U.S. Open
  • (skip a week)
  • WGC Firestone/4th of July
  • (skip a week)
  • British Open
  • (skip a week)
  • PGA Championship
  • (skip a week)
  • Olympics Golf
  • (skip a week)
  • FedEx “playoffs”

It’s screwy like that, obviously, because of the Olympics.  Now, be honest here, when it comes to the Olympics — BE HONEST! — it’s a Wyndham or Greenbrier.  You don’t give a damn about it.

By the way, a little-known hoopster by the name of Stephen Curry has announced he isn’t going to the Olympics.  Are you paying attention Rory, Jordan, and Jason?  (Jason has been.  He’s thinking hard about dropping out.)

I suppose I don’t really care about the Olympics but it’s still golf, so I’ll still watch at least some of it.

  2. Brian Penn says:

Lanny, Olympic golf is a non-starter for me. Rory will drop as will others. It has compressed the summer schedule for the British and PGA into an unreasonable time-frame for rest and recovery between majors. These guys are measured purely by major titles and they know it. Olympic golf doesn’t matter but I will watch the swimming and diving. Thanks,

Yeah, for swimming and diving, the Olympics is the pinnacle for those guys, and the same is true for a lot of other sports. But that’s just not the case with golf.

“In a blow to NBC, Stephen Curry is reportedly not going to the Olympics. The Golden State Warriors star told USA Basketball he will not be playing for a gold medal. He will instead let his right knee heal.”

Okay, that’s from Forbe’s, and I know that’s a business journal, but still, the “blow” is not to the USA Olympic basketball team, but to NBC. Reveals the real purpose of those wonderful Olympic games, doesn’t it.

    • Ken says:

Good catch. That is very telling.

Not hard to be honest for me. I don’t care for anything about the Olympics. I’d rather watch the Greenbrier or Wyndham.
