Graeme Leads With Five Holes Left in Monday Finish!

Graeme McDowell Watch:  It sure would be nice to see Graeme pick up a win this week.  He’s three back of the leader, but sits at T-3, so if the top two falter at all, he’s got a great chance to win.  I tried to watch a little of the tournament yesterday between football games, but the round was over before I knew it had even started.  No idea why the tee times were so early.  Weather?  Football scheduling?  Looks like the tee times are early again today, though two hours later than yesterday.  Again, is this weather?  Was it preplanned?  Spencer Levin is near the top of the leaderboard, too, but probably too far back to make a run today.  Maybe he’ll yet get that maiden victory this fall.

Useless Media, Meet Useless Readers:  Harold Varner III is in Graeme’s group today; I’m reminded of something I saw recently when looking for an example of something or other having to do with the unreadiblity of the major golf websites.  Anyway, I wound up reading some comments to an article and a commenter informed the world that Tiger Woods is the only black player on Tour.  Maybe the commenter would not have been so uninformed if he spent less time participating in inane foodfight arguments and more time keeping up to speed on golf.

Ronda Rousey: A big thing is being made of what an incredible upset this was, but let’s keep it real.  First off, I’m a huge Ronda Rousey fan, but going in, she had won 12 of 12 fights.  And it is not uncommon to fight a bunch of weak opponents when getting started.  Her opponent had 51 total fights (boxing, MMA, etc.).  I don’t follow the sport closely, but I had a feeling she might lose.  I was surprised to hear afterward she had been a 14-1 favorite, considering her opponent had been boxing world champion.  Anyway, I enjoyed the period of Rousey being “invincible,” but it is easy to see now she was very much a media creation.  The 14-1 odds were a sign of media overkill and the public falling victim to the hype.  The media told us, to relate it to golf: “She hit shots no one had ever hit before.”

More Media Silliness, Stupidstics Division:  ESPN reported that a record had been broken in college football yesterday, then added it was the “first time ever in the past 20 years.”  What is wrong with people today?  Why does everything have to be historic and a record.  What is wrong with saying, “He had a great game.”

Lanny…here’s another podcast for you…Fri. 11/13 from…Michael Bamberger, Sr. Writer for SI talking golf journalism…topics include Jeff Maggert, Sergio, Tiger, J. Spieth, Jim Dent, Rory. It’s 40 minutes long…Spoiler Alert: even though Bamberger says he’s never even shook hands with Tiger he states. “It’s been a joy” to cover him. Looking forward to your comments…

No offense, but I think I’m going to pass on that one. Sounds too much like the Dottie Pepper one: a bunch of crap I don’t care about. You need to pick out the parts you find interesting, describe them, and tell us the minute-mark they occur. By the way, I never figured out what you found so interesting at the 25 minute mark of the last one.

I think you would enjoy it…and no offense to you, but no one responds to your ramblings…just trying to help.
