Day T Minus Two: Irish Open, Bryron Nelson Semi Live Blog

8:25 pm Update:  Jordan Spieth will be in the Thursday afternoon broadcast window, teeing off at 2:00 pm EDT.  He’s playing with Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas!  Tiger Who?

5:10 pm: Rory is teeing off at 3:00 am EDT on Thursday and 8:00 am EDT on Friday.  That coincides with Golf Channel live coverage on Thursday.  It looks like they are shifting Morning Drive on Friday to give us Rory’s round then as well.  Looks promising.  He’s playing with Fowler and Kaymer.  Watch for Justin Ray to produce a stupidstic on Rory’s performance when playing with two “er” golfers.

We’re still waiting for the field strengths.  We’ll bring them to you as soon as they are available (unless the Byron Nelson has a stronger field, in which case we’ll never mention it again).

Ever since Byron Nelson passed away in the early roughly the early 2000’s the field strength has been way off so it’s not a question of which field strength is greater. It’s a question of how much stronger is the Irish Open viewed comparatively.

I with they would post the darned numbers. I watched all day, and they still aren’t up.

I view the Byron kind of like the Waste Management. Phil plays cause it’s where he played in college (basically) but otherwise an average field and a gimmicky course. Las Colinas is similar with Spieth being the Phil of the event.
