Rory Misses Cut, Is he focusing too much on his family?

Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic, but there may be a silver lining.

I think Rory is spending too much time focused on his family, taking away from his practice time.  But is that a bad thing or a good thing?  Family is the most important thing in life, so it’s a good thing.

To summarize: Rory wasn’t really trying.

Okay, now for serious analysis:  Rory has a high ball flight.  That’s how he is able to get the ball to stop near the hole on those par-5’s.  Was yesterday’s wind helpful or harmful to a player with a high ball flight?

Today, Rory played three holes, got halted, play 1-1/2 holes, got halted.  You can’t get anything going that way.  Rory didn’t play well, no two ways about it.  But he also got the bad side of the draw.  That combination equals buh-bye.  No reason for concern.  Let’s wait and see how Rory plays when the weather is the same for the entire field.

Reed also got the bad side of the draw and is leading, which shows just how well he is playing.

Well he definitely wasn’t trying over the last 4 holes today.

Rory and Reed would be an awesome final pairing in the Masters.
