Congrats to James Hahn! This guy has a great story. Here’s a link, if interested. (There’s a video at the bottom right of that link; stop that and the article will scroll more smoothly.)
Fun tourney in L.A., even if my two closest horses, Spieth and Sergio, finished one shot out of the playoff. A really fun event, and for some reason, the rain today enhanced my enjoyment. Gave it a European Tour feel. I would not have minded Vijay winning to annoy Tim Finchem. Very gracious interview by Sergio after bogey-bogey finish.
Lahiri won the Indian Open, which made me smile a little because some guy with an analytics website was using Lahiri as an example of an “inferior” European Tour player ranked too high in the OWGR. Well, now we’ll get to see him in the WGC events, so I’ll have another player to root for. I think I’ll reproduce that back-and-forth here in a day or two. If Lahiri does well, I guess I can pat myself on the back for defending him.
Lydia Ko getting it done! I love her demeanor. When you get to the endzone, act like you’ve been there before. Too bad our golf media pushes for endzone celebrations and sack dances. I mean, what the hell? Since when did self-cheering and facial reactions become what makes a sport “exciting”? Used to be team players cheered at the end of the game if their team won. Now they cheer after every play. With choreographed dumping of Gatorade if they do win.
