Friday Thoughts

Golf journalism is What’s Dead:  How can it be that Lanny H Golf is the only golf writer in the world to suggest the new upright swing of Tiger Woods was a concession to his aging and surgically-repaired back?  I defy anyone to present so much as a single example of a golf reporter mentioning that possibility.  One.  Single.  Example.

Breaking News?  Golf Channel ran a banner about Woods withdrawing from the San Diego Open under the heading of “Breaking News.”  This is his third withdrawal in less than a year.  Woods withdrawing is as common as rain in Seattle.

2015 Predictions: Go back and read some of the golf media predictions for this year.  Feherty insisted Woods would become OWGR #1.  Others predicted Masters victories.  Beating the Tiger drum long ago turned into beating a dead horse.  Or beating a dead Hamburglar.

Boomer and Carton, a CBS morning talk show, which I don’t watch much, stated that Woods must have taken ped’s for his body to break down this fast in his last 30’s…….

Doesn’t matter why he changed his swing. He’s still making the same kinds of technical errors.

Yeah, all he needs is one swing thought and his aged, surgically-repaired body will lead him to another “Tiger Slam.” All hail Tiger! All hail Tiger!

Now, let’s ignore the interesting things going on in golf to focus on Woods finding this tip. Oh, but he’s so close! He’s a-gonna break Jack’s record — if he can just find that tip!

I know 70 year old dudes that have surgically repaired backs, knees, hips, shoulders, etc that play 5 times a week. There are a couple of tweaks that would allow TW to play without pain. That’s not to say he could rattle off 5 more majors (maybe not even 1) but it would allow him to at least play 4 consecutive rounds of golf without pain.

It’s basically a mental hurdle that appears to be too high for him.

I’m not buying this back injury. On about the 8th hole Woods hit a first class 5 woods out of very deep rough. He hit a shot that needed him to strain every muscle. He played a great shot and there wasn’t the slightest hint of a twinge or spasm. The man has lived his life as a fraud. Nothing has changed.

You know, I have never thought Woods was faking an injury. Did I think he was exaggerating the pain? Absolutely.

But now I wonder. How big a step is there between exaggeration and fakery? A very small one. I did think I noticed some stiffness yesterday when he was walking in the rough on about hole No. 2, so maybe yesterday was legit. But I do not know for certain, and I would not rule out the idea that he fakes back injuries (or exaggerates them) in order to exit a round.

we ALL know how to fake stuff….Remember as a kid, exaggerating being sick so you wouldn’t have to go to school ect…..It’s no different as an adult
