Rory McIlroy, who, on a good day, is the third most-mentioned golfer on the Golf Channel, is a mere 50-1 to win the Grand Slam this year. 50-1. That’s all. Golf tournaments are commonly won by players with higher odds than that.
Folks, it could happen.
If we consider that Rory will be at the top of his game for another 10 years, you can extrapolate that the odds of Rory winning the Grand Slam in his career are a mere 5-1. And that doesn’t address the fact that his putting will almost assuredly improve in the next couple of years.
Folks, it is going to happen. It’s not “if,” it’s “when.” It’s just a matter of time. We’re going to have a Grand Slam winner with a Manhattan tickertape parade. Mark it down. And I have a gut feeling it will be this year. 50-1 propositions happen with regularity, and something is telling me this is Rory’s year.
Check it out at Ladbrokes. By the way, Rory’s odds to win two and only two majors this year? 5-1.
