Finchem Renews Vows with Tiger Woods, Throws Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar under the Bus

In announcing the change in the WGC Match Play format, PGA Tour Commissioner and Tiger Woods lackey Tim Finchem mentioned the new format would ensure “fan favorites” such as Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker and Bubba Watson would play a minimum of three days.

No mention of Phil Mickelson nor Matt Kuchar, who won the event in 2013.

You might find it odd that the WGC Match Play is changing its format to better suit Tiger Woods, but such an action certainly explains why Finchem has not tested Tiger Woods even once for PEDs this year: Tim Finchem is Tiger Woods’s butt-boy.

Not really sure the World Cup soccer format adds anything to this PGA event….Since PGA guys are already used to playing against EVERYONE in the field, for making the cut every week….I’m not really sure this adds anything by playing against only a few guys first…..Again soccer, it is kind of a cool format….In golf, especially when it’s just another event, and really doesn’t mean anything, nah……It’s almost like an individual Ryder Cup or something……As far as keeping players around? It probably is the MAIN reason why they did it, as it is unlikely that Eldrick will win one of those tournaments again…

I’ve said it many times…If they REALLY want to boost attendance, they should have a lotto sort of thing, where each person that comes to watch the event, gets a ticket with a PGA player on it…If that player wins, the individuals with the matching ticket would win a certain amount of money…Say 50 people have the name of the player, they would each win $5000 or something, for a total price tag to the pga of $250,000…..Sounds like a lot, but not when you think of all the money that is involved in these tournaments……Especially in that kind of tournament, with only 64 players, it would make a lot of sense and incentive for fans to care AND attend……
